Pam, Please double check your Aluminum dimensions. I do not understand the 1/8"x1"x3"xlength dimensions.

The aluminum tubing dimensions are as follows: 1/8" thick, 1" wide and 3" high. We show two tubes in a 10" beam which is also applicable in a 12" beam as well. The shape is a hollow. The tubing runs the full length of the pergola beam whenever a beam is greater than 10' in length. Thus the reference x length dimensions. There are other structural shapes that can be used in place of the retangular tubing such as an "I" or "H" beam but from feedback at OEM's and millwork shops we believe this is the simplest method of reinforcing Versatex to create a pergola beam.
